WildStar Online is seriously driving me crazy. The game has exceeded my expectations and I find myself logging in every day and playing into the wee hours of the night. With work demanding more of my time, something had to give. And in this case, I gave in to temptation and bought the KillerGuides WildStar Online leveling guide – and I’m glad I did.

My first MMO leveling guide
killerguides wildstar leveling guideI was very apprehensive about buying the KillerGuides WildStar Online leveling guide. Sure it was relatively cheaper compared to the official guides and some of my friends swore by the brand because they have used it recently for Elder Scrolls Online and Final Fantasy XIV Realm Reborn. But I was scared that it will just contain regurgitated information from the forums and databases.

I’m glad my fears were unfounded. The guide actually delivered on what it advertised: very useful leveling information for my class, the Esper. I could tell that the guide author actually spent a lot of time playing and mastering the class, and so had plenty of tips and tricks to teach me. This includes advice on how to quickly beat monsters using my Esper kit and shortcuts that help me skip time-consuming, poor XP quests. In WildStar, you get this tendency to finish every single quest that comes your way, but this guide points you to a more optimal strategy of picking quests with larger XP gains for your current level. These are the kinds of information you can only learn from another veteran Esper user.

The guide offers no single silver bullet that will instantly take you to level 50, but gives you instead a large batch of tips that, when combined, will really help you rush to the endgame. Don’t get me wrong — I like leveling, but I’ve always been the type to enjoy the endgame more with its high-level raiding and gear, as well as PvP.

Another great thing about using the manual from KillerGuides is that I still had fun in the game. It did not force me to do nasty things like cheating or ultra grinding. There were also no story spoilers that will ruin your role-playing journey. The guide simply helped me play better and wiser, and the XP and rewards just poured in naturally.

Great replay value for multi-classers
Now that I’m quickly rising up in levels, I’m already contemplating about creating a new character to serve as my alt. Even though I love my Esper to bits, sometimes you just want to take a break from the rhythm of spellcasting. I’ve been browsing through the other class sections in the leveling guide and they seem to be as comprehensively written as the Esper section. No doubt, if and when I decide to level a new Stalker or Warrior, I will also have the same pleasant experience using the guide.

Not just for clueless newbies
I may be an MMO guide virgin, but I am a veteran of playing MMORPGs. So naturally, I won’t be contented with simply getting leveling tips. I also looked forward to getting up-to-date information on the strongest builds and skill rotations, and they did not disappoint. I was able to seriously improve the power of my Esper by just following the class customization recommendations in this guide. I’ve been putting out more damage per second and have been winning more PvP fights than usual. And this is just from using the guide for roughly a week. KillerGuides promises to update the guide constantly with new patches over time, and that reassures me that I can constantly pick up fresh veteran-level strategies to keep me on top of the game.

Customer service aims to please
Buying the guide was really easy and quick, which personally made me more confident about the purchase. I also conversed with their customer support through email, asking about very specific information and whether these would be found in the guide and they were able to respond promptly. They even invited me to email them feedback on missing information in the guide so they can quickly add it in the next free update. I like their proactiveness and they seemed very eager to keep me satisfied. They took the opportunity to upsell me an upgrade so I can get the class guide and crafting guide, and I was very nearly convinced because of how cheap they were as a bundle. But maybe I’ll buy at a later time once I really need them.

Small caveats
Now don’t get me wrong. I may gush about this guide, but it is not perfect. The guide may sometimes be too text-heavy, especially if you like seeing screenshots and pictures more than reading. There were also a couple of formatting and minor grammatical mistakes, but nothing to make you take your hair out in frustration. Overall the KillerGuides leveling book for WildStar is a fantastic value if you’re tight on time and want to fast-track your leveling. It provides a wealth of walkthroughs, tips and tactics designed to cut down your leveling grind but still make your journey to level 50 a truly enjoyable one.

Guideline to Leveling the WildStar Esper

Espers are experts at dealing psychic damage and also have the ability to heal. Attempting to play the esper like a spellslinger will result in death. Other characters can dodge attacks, but the esper is rooted in place while they channel abilities. This guide explains how to get the best use out of the esper, and how to level them up effeciantly.wildstar_esper

The primary stat for the esper is moxie, which increases the assault abilities’ attacks. There are secondary abilities to look, which are; brutality (determins hit chance) and finesse (determines critical hit chances). Finally, espers should also consider insight, which affects healing.

Currently during the beta phase, espers are a “stationary” class. They are more susceptible to mental damage, but are just as capable of dealing out that same damage. The developers continue to change Spectral Form, and the current consensus is that it used to be a far better ability. Many players feel the current iteration of Spectral Form is the worst version so far, and too limiting. They are hoping for a return to a previous iteration. Newer characters like to use this innate ability at the last minute to try and save them. However, this an result in death most of the time, the ability was never meant to be used this way. So, it is best to use it at the start of battle and apply it evenly throughout combat.

That being said, what espers lack in mobility, they make up with in pure damage. However, because of this lack of mobility, it can be quite dangerous (and also annoying) to try and confront multiple enemies that the same time. For example, players as espers find that they often have to restart casting times of spells simply because they needed to move their character to be in line with the enemy. The wildstar espers also have the Psychic Frenzy ability, allowing them to move around and kite enemies instead of remaining stationary.

The general way to fighting enemies goes like this; you group the enemies as close as possible to one another, and then deal damage to them. Then follow up with a charged ability or charged blades, if applicable. This recharges your PSI points, and allows you to use stronger abilities once again. Next, follow up with abilities like Crush (if applicable in the situation) or Mind Blast. Repeat until you see experience points.

Best Esper abilities that benefit leveling: Telekinetic Strike, Psychic Frenzy, Spectral Form.

Most of the information in the below post is a bit outdated. However, this KillerGuides’ Wildstar manual has more exhaustive and up-to-date information. One of the more helpful sections of the guide is on leveling. Unlike most guides I have seen online, this is pure expert advice that have helped me a lot in leveling up my esper twice as fast. I also write a review of the guide in this post.

When it comes to choosing the perfect class and racial combo in WildStar, there thankfully isn’t too much to worry about when it comes to choosing your race. There are no racial bonuses or abilities whatsoever in the game. This means that there is no “best” race at all. Originally the developers planned to add small racial passives but decided to scrap that idea during the last year of the game’s development.

All this means is that when you choose your class and race, you should simply go by which race appeals to you the best. Races are split between the factions and some classes cannot be all races, so take this into consideration as well. For Espers, specifically, you will have to choose between the following races:

Exiles:

Human and Aurin

Dominion:

Cassian and Chua

Espers, unfortunately, get one of the smaller pools of races to choose from. Humans and Cassians are both extremely similar. Cassians are simply the Dominion’s version of a human. Chua and Aurin are both the “smaller” races in WildStar, but are dramatically different in appearance and lore characteristics.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you plan on PvPing at all in WildStar, you may want to think about trying out Aurin and/or Chua simply due to the fact that smaller races are often less noticeable during a hectic PvP battle. This is a guide to pvp in wildstar. All classes will be noticeable when it comes to their spells and animations, but the actual character models themselves being smaller can sometimes help a character stay undetected for a little longer and be more difficult for enemies to target. This will enable you to survive longer and aid your team to victory whether you are a DPS Esper or a healer. Smarter players will still be able to easily find and track you, however, so choosing a smaller race is in no way a guarantee of anything.

The final choice is yours, however. With no racial bonuses and abilities in WildStar whatsoever, all you need to do to create the perfect Esper is create the character that fits you best. There is no “best” race for any class. Cosmetics, aesthetics, animations, faction, character model size, lore and the general appearances of each race are the only things that need to be taken into consideration. This simplifies the character creation process in WildStar significantly.

Esper is one of the six playable classes found in Wildstar Online. The Esper is a telekinetic illusionist who heals and does damage by using his mind. This is a feat that can be done from varying distances. A player is able to use an Esper in many ways as there are powerful illusions, a telekinetic psi blade, and light armor.

The psi blade is a weapon that Espers can control with their mind. Copies of the psi blade can appear if they will be necessary. The specialty of an Esper is creating illusions to deal high mental dps damage. This is as an attack on mind of an enemy. The illusion is in the form of a powerful vision or nightmare when directed at foes or allies. The Esper class can also manifest various creatures to harass an enemy. One thing to keep in mind is Espers only have light armor and means you will want to stay on your toes and keep your distance.

There are two ability resources that are available to a player of the game. These resources are Psi Point and the Focus. One is for DPS and the other is for Healing skills. The focus for a player is at full when at the start of the game. Focus begins to decrease gradually when encountering any combat, but a player who uses Focus Recovery Rate can restore Focus that has been lost during combat.

A player’s Psi Point is typically at zero at the start of a game. Players will generate Psi Point by using a Telekinetic strike or other abilities. Mind Bursting or other finishing ability will deplete the player’s Psi Point. Psi Point will also begin to deplete when a player is not currently in combat. The highest level of Psi Point for a player is 5.

Players in Esper will have various innate abilities. These abilities manifest in a spectral form whenever a player uses a ranged caster on foes and very important for the wildstar esper gameplay. This can increase the mitigation of damage by 100 percent. Using a ranged caster can also generate 1 Psi point within 1 to 8 seconds. This means the use of focus builder abilities will be the best way to attain the highest level for Psi Point. Again, if ranged caster is not used in combat, then the Psi Point will drop quickly.

The Esper class has four choices of races for a player. There are human, Aurin, Cassian, and Chua.
